PC Build

Recommended Posts

Well, I don't know if anyone really checks this site any longer. However, I figured I would post this anyhow.

I am finally looking to build a new pc, after 10 years of the old one!!!!!!!

I am trying to stay under $650 including the OS. (Before tax and shipping)

However, I do want to be able to run all current games, which I believe this system will do just fine.

I also want to be able to easily upgrade in a couple years.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Wow dude, looks like a really solid rig. If you get back into gaming, me n' Frank have been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 a lot, it's a pretty solid shooter. Just a quick note about your setup though - you're probably fine with onboard sound, but I find that a dedicated sound card makes a world of difference. I get clearer, amplified sound from my speakers and my input/mic quality is way better. Aside from that... Hopefully we can get together and frag sometime.

Well, I may as well jump on the bandwagon. I haven't been following PC's at ALL, been too broke paying two mortgages and suing my business partner. Anyways, that shit is cleared up, and I'm getting a big juicy cheque next week. After paying off all my outstanding debt, I'll have around $800 to blow. Anyone feel like recommending a rig for my lazy, drunk ass? Main concerns are kicking the shit out of Starcraft 2 and, of course, what the fuck is the point in a PC without an FPS to play?

Vidcard wise, the gtx460(or the 480) is last gen tech, but it's cheap now, and still good.

Go with a core i5 for your processor if it ain't too expensive.

Most core i5 boards require memory to run in triples instead of pairs. So roll with 6 gigs of ram if you can.

Everything else is up to you (mobo, hd, optical drive).

If ur budget is 800 check this out

System Builder Marathon, March 2010: $750 Gaming PC at Toms hardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/value-...ng-pc,2578.html

This for 500

System Builder Marathon, December 2010: $500 PC at Toms hardware http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-...ii-x3,2811.html

This for several different AMD and Intel configurations at different price points.

Toms hardware System configurations. http://www.tomshardware.com/system-configu...ndation-51.html

Then go to the forums at Toms and post your prospective build in the: "Tom's Hardware > Forum > Systems > New Build " and someone will invariably beat your build and price with some creative newegg combo deals.

: )
