Remote control!

Saber

Recommended Posts

Well, I've decided to get out of WoW after having almost 5 lvl 70's.

I'm just now in the process of ordering a remote control airplane kit(I have to build it)!!

Because this is going to be my first plane, I am getting whats called a trainer plane: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXJ557&P=0

Anyone else ever play with R/C planes?

I never have, but a friend of mine used to. He's always had remote control all kindsa stuff. He started with a trainer plane and then got something better. He ran it smack into a tree while making a very wide turn where he didn't check to see where he was going.

Somehow, he managed to get most of it back together. It's a really cool thing to do but if the wind outside is a lil too much, you risk wrecking your plane.

Right on Saber. Sounds like a fun hobby. I used to build the model rockets with my Dad when I was a kid and that was always a blast. We had a gas powered helicopter that would fly straight up in the air until it ran out of gas and then slow-fell back to earth after dropping paratroopers, that was a blast too. My neighbor got a nice electric remote flyer that has a handful of customizable options that you can add to it (laser dog-fighting, remote control drop mechanisms, etc). I personally like the electric ones better because you can charge them off of your car lighter and they don't need a lot of maintenance, on the downside, they don't need a lot of maintenance. http://www.fnfclan.com/uploads/uploads/emoticons/default_tongue.png

haha, ya. I've always really been into R/C things. I started out at like age 12 with a electric R/C Car kit. Was tons of fun to build and took about 6 weeks. Since then I have had a few electric prebuilt R/C stuff: boat, hovercraft, and the latest which finally tipped me over the edge to get another kit was a Palm-z airplane.

neat, d00d !

Ive never played with one of these, but there's a field near my house where guys get together and fly their stuff on the weekends. I used to have an RC car, but that was sooooo long ago... its not a hobby i kept up.

One thing i've always wanted to try is aerial photography using a balloon. i guess thats vaaaaaguely RC.. but not really.

Think you could carry a small digital camera with one of these planes ? probably not, eh..

oh jeeze, that IS a good size ! I guess it kinda has to be a decent size if you're going to be able to see it up there in the sky and all that..

it'd be so cool to set up some army figures and vehicles and take pictures of a mock strafing run or something : D

Well, still waiting for the parts (its in Canada customs right now http://www.fnfclan.com/uploads/uploads/emoticons/default_ranting2.gif ), but I got a good start on my work bench. All in all, I spent $20 on this thing. Its cheap'n'ugly, its sturdy and it was fun to put together. Got a couple 2x4's and a door and voila, got me a workbench. I used bolts so that it comes apart in 4 sections for easy moving. The door was free from a family member who just so happened to have one that he wasn't using anymore. Now all I need is the plane! You may notice its in a bedroom, I'd use my garage, but its just jam packed and freezing cold. <_>http://www.fnfclan.com/uploads/uploads/monthly_04_2008/post-16-1209494391_thumb.jpg
