General
Well, the gorgeous day we had here in Vancouver/Abbotsford has inspired me to start work on my newest edition of summer cruising tunes. For those of you that don't know the rules, only rock. Classic is preferred, but I'll take modern if it gets me in the mood. This isn't a CD for partying, or drinking, this is a CD to throw in when you just want to cruise around in the sunshine and feel the good vibes. I'm open to any and all recommendations (Note: I hate rap and country). Also, only one song from any artist will be put on, but just because you see an artist listed, feel free to suggest another song and maybe it'll be one I missed. The list will be updated as I scout my collection and find more appropriate tunes. Any thoughts on the order/mix would also be useful. Steve Miller - Take the Money and Run The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz Motley Crue - Primal Scream (Live off of LIVE: Entertainment or Death, may be replaced from the version from the new live CD depending on how the mixdown sounds) (Girls, Girls, Girls has an outside chance of making it on instead) The Rolling Stones - Jumpin' Jack Flash (Live version off the Flashpoint CD) 54-40 - Ocean Pearl (I love how classic this song is, but Easy to Love off of their new album would also rock shit. So would Golden Sun or Can't Get Enough, for that matter) Aerosmith - Shut Up and Dance B.T.O. - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet (possible cut) Billy Idol - Mony Mony (Possible Cut, or replacable with 'Dancing With Myself' or 'Don't You Forget About Me') Bob Dylan - Stuck in the Middle with You (Possible Cut) Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer (Possible Cut) Brides of Destruction - Life The Cure - Friday I'm in Love David Bowie - Golden Years (Possible Cut) Def Leppard - Let it Rock Everclear - Amphetamine (Possible Cut, or replacable with 'Volvo Driving Soccer Moms') Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench Methods of Mayhem - Crash Nazareth - Hair of the Dog Lynrd Skynrd - Freebird Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop Me (Possible Cut) Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride Tom Petty - Even the Losers Trooper - We're Here for a Good Time NEW ADDITIONS: John Fogerty - Fortunate Son Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World Colin James - Just Came Back As you can see, I already have way too many damned songs, and need to cut some, but I'm always looking for great tunes to throw in! And yes, I missed out on alot of great artists and rocking songs, but I want to keep a positive vibe through the whole CD. Freebird is almost guaranteed to be the closing trank (thank you Devil's Rejects soundtrack). Anyways, additions, subtractions, track placement, anything! Help me rock the fuck out this summer! http://www.fnfclan.com/uploads/uploads/emoticons/default_buttrock.gif Edited February 12, 2006 by General

VaderOnIce
Eagles- Take it Easy and/or Hotel California. Both have driving in the song. That's what I was listening to today on my ride, cruisin for no reason.
General
The Eagles are a great band, Frank, but they don't set the mood I'm looking for at all, they're a little too laid back. Anyways, I'm kind of trying to avoid the double album because I just want to leave the CD in my van, since I use my ipod generally, and my glove compartment is too damned small to hold a CD, lol. So, that means we must discuss the cuts. Never Gonna Stop Me is on the edge right now just becuase it's alot heavier and doesn't really match anything else on the album. Crash by Methods of Mayhem suffers from the same dilemma. The same goes for Primal Scream, but the song gets me insanely pumped (ie. I mosh every time I listen to it, even in the shower) and I'll be damned if I ever burn a cruising CD without a Crue song. GGG is a contender, though. I'm not really feeling Amphetamine on the album, but I love Everclear and would love to have one of their tracks on there. Another option is Volvo Driving Soccer Mom. The same goes for Bowie, I feel he should be on there somewhere but I just can't pick the right track, Golden Years is alright but doesn't really grab me, maybe because it's on the radio so much. BTO, Idol, Bon Jovi and Dylan are all up for cuts, too. By all rights if a Bob Dylan track is going to be on this, it should be Hurricane, but that song is so goddamned long I'd have to cut two songs for it. Another Billy Idol tune that might rock is Dancing With Myself. White Wedding and Rebel Yell are too overplayed for consideration. Now that I think of it, Don't You Forget About Me would be a good choice as well. As you can see, the more I think about this, the more difficult it gets to make some cuts. The list has been updated to reflect these recent considerations. EDIT: Songs that are up for being cut will be indicated in bracets. EDIT 2: New Contenders due to a brain storm: John Fogerty - Fortunate Son Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World

General
Ah yes, the Mayhem post that I've been waiting for. Zombie Zoo... tha tone totally slipped my mind, it deserves consideration. It's So Easy (my favourite GnR song) and Hey Man Nice Shot are both cut due to variety (I had them both on my mix the past two years. Never heard of Hang on St. Christopher, I'll have to DL it and check it out.

General
Alright, after listening to the songs, I've decided on the following track list (I need help on the order though) Methods of Mayhem - Crash Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop Me The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz 54-40 - Ocean Pearl Steve Miller Band - Take the Money and Run The Rolling Stones - Jumpin' Jack Flash (Live from the Flashpoint album) Aerosmith - Shut up and Dance BTO - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer Motley Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls The Cure - Friday I'm in Love David Bowie - Golden Years Def Leppard - Let it Go Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench Nazareth - Hair of the Dog Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Even the Losers Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird Alright, for now that's the working track list and order. A couple points of reasoning behind the order: Crash and NGSM are first because they don't really fit in with the rest of the CD, so it's easy to just skip them and start with Blitz. Freebird is the last track, that's not open to discussion. I think the rest is a good wave of heavy/softer tracks, which keeps it flowing and lets your mood flow with the wind blowing through your hair while you drive.... oh god, I've turned into a pussy. ANYWAYS... I'm not totally sure on Golden Years yet, sometimes I really dig it and sometimes it's tiresome. Well, there you have my thoughts so far. I'm fairly set in the track list (it killed me to drop Life, but it just didn't fit in with the rest of the tracks). If you have any thoughts on the order (or REALLY want to bitch about a certain song not making the cut) let's hear 'em, so I can have the official track list done and we can all cruise around to the same album when it gets warm. http://www.fnfclan.com/uploads/uploads/emoticons/default_biggrin.png
Crilix
I'm not quite sure if this is what you're going for, but... There's a mashup of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' and Joan Jett's 'I Love Rock and Roll' which has a great cruisin' feel to it. You can download 'We Will Rock and Roll You' here. It has a breif but annoying rap intro to it, but aside from that I like it. /shrugs -Cril
